Quick Trip

The Graduate. My beautiful cousin Victoria graduated from high school. She is heading off to NAU in the fall and I am so proud of her!

Relaxing by the pool, can't remember if this was at Wildhorse Pass or the JW Marriott at Desert Ridge. Both were amazing, thank you Mom and Scott for putting me up for the weekend!

My last minute trip to Arizona was too short.

I love my family. They all pitched in and bought me a ticket so I could be a part of the graduation festivities for my cousin Vic. Thank You All, I Love You!

My heart hurts when I think about how much I love and miss my family. It is probably the hormones, but life just seems to be flying by so fast and I feel on the verge of a break down when I think about how much I miss being a kid and being surrounded by family.

And, as if leaving behind my family wasn't enough to throw me over the edge, my sister had to create the most perfect human being in the world and missing out on his first year is really hard. Now I understand why she sometimes considers ditching school to hang with him full time.

Stay tuned: in less than 12 hours we find out if Baby is a boy or a girl!

And just like that...

I started to show! This week (18), Baby is now about 6 inches long and weighs nearly 7 oz. Baby is growing, growing, growing inside of me and oddly enough it still has not hit me that I actually have someone chillin in my uterus. Someone who can suck their thumb, yawn and kick. Someone with a cute little face, eyelashes, little fingers and toes. So weird, and still unreal.

A slight disclaimer on this photo: I just finished eating homemade ravioli which is quite possibly contributing to the roundness.

Weekend

I spent this past weekend cleaning and running errands, which seems so typical but it reminds me of being a kid and running around town on sunny Saturday mornings with my mom or dad.

I got an oil change, had the tires rotated, and did my *essential* loads of laundry and dishes. One of the water treatment plants in Nashville was flooded and is still inoperable so we have been on strict conservation orders from the Mayor. Until this weekend we were told not to do laundry or run the dishwasher, and we are still prohibited from watering lawns or washing cars.

While I was cleaning, Lola dragged out a bunch of toys and found her cousin Millie's dress.

She loves it!

After working 12 hours on Saturday, my sweet hubby took me to the Cheesecake Factory to pick up a special Mother's Day treat.

I came home with this huge piece of red velvet cheesecake, and could only eat about a third of it. It was intense.

We ate our dessert on the couch and watched 500 Days of Summer, which was pretty good. Kind of hard to follow with all of the jumping around though.

Josh fell asleep during the intro. Like always.

Only 18 more days until we get to see baby again and find out if we will be having a girl or a boy. Ahh I can't wait!

Perspective

This is what the river usually looks like:

See all those lamp posts and flags, they are completely under water now.

All of this is now covered and those buildings are flooded.

INSANE!

The past 72 hours in Nashville have been like a disaster movie.

Over 13 inches of rain in 36 hours has broken records in the state, and has caused creeks and rivers to overflow into neighborhoods reaching over 20 feet in some areas of town. The river is at record levels, and flooding is of historic proportions. People have abandoned cars on highways and there are hundreds of cars and trucks that have been stuck on the I40 for over 24 hours.

Now that the rain has stopped, the creeks are dumping into the Cumberland River that has yet to crest and is spilling over into downtown. The markers, light posts, and flags that adorn the river front are all completely submerged. There are five levels of steps that lead down to the river are all under water.

Luckily our building has not been threatened by the water, even though we are so close to the river.

This is just the craziest thing ever. Thoughts and prayers are requested for the tens of thousands who have lost EVERYTHING.
